Transfer latest: Isak says he will not play for Newcastle again, Reds open talks for Guehi
❌ Alexander Isak is adamant he will not play for Newcastle United again as he continues to try and force a move to Liverpool.
The 25-year-old has not featured for the Magpies at all in pre-season and has no plans to represent the club again.
After being told last summer that he would not be offered a new contract at St James’ Park, Isak informed club chiefs that the 2024/25 campaign would be his last with the Magpies - David Ornstein, The Athletic.
👀 Isak has also moved out of the North East home that he has resided in since signing with Newcastle in August 2022.
The property, located in Ponteland, was first put on the market at the end of July when the forward flew to Spain to train at his former club Real Sociedad - Martin Hardy and Tom Allnutt, The Times.
🤝 Liverpool have begun negotiations with Crystal Palace over a deal for Marc Guehi.
The England international, 25, has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal at Selhurst Park, and on Sunday, chairman Steve Parish admitted the prospect of losing the defender would be a “problem” for the FA Cup winners - Ian Doyle, Liverpool ECHO.
“Yes, of course, for players of that calibre to leave on a free, it is a problem for a football club,” Parish said. “There is no doubt about it, unfortunately. Joachim (Andersen) went (last summer to Fulham) and we couldn’t afford to lose both of them.
"We then had another bid in January but that was a difficult situation as well. We will just have to see what happens. It needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind.
“In the end, people trade players. That is what football clubs do. Of course, if you don’t care about tomorrow ever and put it all off, then we are a fantastic team.
“If we had four more players, I don’t know what we could achieve. Unfortunately, it is not always as simple as that. We have got a lot of outgoings this year because we are paying a lot of transfer fees for players that we have already got”
💰 The Premier League champions are close to signing Italy under-21 international Giovanni Leoni from Parma.
The 18-year-old was one of the breakout stars of the 2024/25 Serie A season and has attracted interest from Inter Milan.
The defender underwent the first part of his medical with the Reds on Friday after the two clubs reached an agreement for his transfer - Liverpool ECHO

“Three years on, it’s time to say goodbye. I’ll take with me countless memories that will live with me forever.
“I leave with a full heart, thanks to the love of a crowd that never let me down and always had my back - through the highs and through the lows.

Liverpool’s new assistant manager, Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, has admitted he was “excited” about the prospect of joining the Reds from the moment he first spoke to Arne Slot.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Van Bronckhorst said: “I must say, from the first moment Arne called me, I was quite excited about the challenge.
“You have to get to know the players and the staff and that’s the same for everyone when you come to a new club, but from the beginning, I already knew what kind of club I was joining.
“I played a couple of times against Liverpool as a player and also as a coach, so I knew how big the club was before.
“I’ve felt very, very welcomed by everyone and now I can’t wait to share my experiences with the players, with Arne and the coaching staff, to continue the success for this club.”

Just a pity that Liverpool fc are getting stick for the Isak saga, in my opinion they have to sell or tell Liverpool fc that there is no chance of them selling. Newcastle need to put an end to this comic opera one way or another. Keep up the good work YNWA.
